VZDV has engineers registered as low carbon consultants. These engineers are specifically trained, tested and approved as competent and committed not only to meet the stringent requirements of the new Part L but to surpass it. This is a scheme developed by CIBSE and The Carbon Trust. The specialist areas include:

•  Low carbon and renewable technologies

•  Passive design making best use of shade and natural ventilation

•  Information needed to manage the building and ensure it continues to perform to its design intent after handover

•  Reducing ongoing energy costs
